The Easiest Way to Make an Impact
A Gift in Your Will or Living Trust
Interested in helping the University of Denver with our mission but feel overwhelmed by the thought of writing another check or giving up your assets today? A simple, flexible and versatile way to ensure we can continue our work for years to come is a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest.
By including a bequest to the University in your will or living trust, you are ensuring that we can continue our mission for years to come.
Meet Cynthia Shaw Simonoff
Pianist Cynthia Shaw Simonoff (BM '77) credits the University of Denver for introducing her to cosmopolitan students and nurturing her education in a small music department, which helped her adjust to life in complicated and sometimes overwhelming New York City after graduation.
But before she even stepped foot on campus, DU made her education possible by providing scholarships.
"I could not have afforded DU without this financial aid," she says.
When Cynthia and her husband put together their wills, they included various family members and charities, one of which is DU.
"I thought of DU and the scholarships I had received there as a student," Cynthia says. So she and her husband included a bequest that will fund a music scholarship.
"It is so wonderful to know that I am able to give students who are like me, talented, but not able to afford private-school tuition, the ability to afford going to a top-notch college."
Cynthia says she never imagined that she would be in a position to make this kind of contribution. But with the help of DU's gift planning experts, she and her husband are able to make a difference in a young person's life.
"I think it is really a miracle."
